NYC Murder Mystery Show Reviews

If you’re curious about any of the awesome NYC murder mystery events that the Big Apple has to offer, check out these reviews I wrote based on the shows my friends and I attended! We went to five of the most prominent shows in the city (and one that was way out of city limits!) to compare them and see which ones are worth the money.

Round Five: Murdered by the Mob

The final stop on our NYC murder mystery tour is Murdered by the Mob, which is advertised as an off-Broadway murder mystery show, complete with a three course dinner and dancing. Sadly, Mackenzie couldn’t make it to the final round, so it was just Jeremy and I experiencing this one!

We went online to purchase tickets and chose to get $99 general admission. The VIP tickets come with reserved VIP seating, but we decided to stick with the cheaper option because let's be honest, even the cheaper option isn’t cheap… especially when they slap on a $15 service fee when you purchase them. In my mind…Continue Reading

Round Four: The Murder Mystery Company

For our fourth NYC murder mystery adventure, Mackenzie and I took on The Murder Mystery Company. Spoiler alert: we were super impressed.

We did some research and learned that they often host coupon codes on their own website, unlike any of the NYC murder mystery shows we’ve gone to so far. We were able to snatch up our tickets for half price (!!!) thanks to a handy dandy popup message when we went to buy our tickets. We were sent a confirmation email…Continue Reading

Round Three: Killing Kompany

Due to some awesome scheduling, I was lucky enough to have both Mackenzie and Jeremy join me for Round Three of the NYC murder mystery tour last weekend! We decided on Killing Kompany, because it’s one that I hear the most about.

I have to admit, when I went to their website to purchase tickets, I was a little apprehensive. It was terribly difficult to navigate, plus it just doesn’t look good. That may be a superficial criticism, but I just feel don’t feel as comfortable using a website that looks…Continue Reading

Round Two: ACME Mystery Company at Beardslee Castle

Round Two of our murder mystery NYC tour brought us to Beardslee Castle for a murder mystery dinner performed by ACME Mystery Company. This one is quite a bit out of NYC and is actually located upstate, but luckily, my boyfriend’s family lives in the area and invited us stay with them for the weekend so that we could check it out!

My boyfriend Jeremy grew up near enough that he had been to the castle before and said we were in for quite a treat. I loaded up the website to purchase tickets and HELLO, they were only $45 a piece. That’s basically HALF of what…Continue Reading

Round One: Truffles

So I’m starting my NYC murder mystery review tour with Truffles, a company I had actually never heard of before my research. I think they’re relatively new, which could account for never having heard of them. They perform at a fictional restaurant called Ciacco’s, which exists inside The Cutting Room in NYC.

I started off by purchasing tickets for myself and my trusty partner-in-crime AKA bestie, Mackenzie. When I saw that we could see a murder mystery brunch instead of a murder mystery dinner, I was super excited. I bought two…Continue Reading
